Global Citizenship at Wellington encourages pupils to engage thoughtfully with global issues, develop a sense of social responsibility, and take meaningful action both locally and internationally. Through a range of projects, pupils are empowered to collaborate, reflect and contribute positively to communities beyond their immediate surroundings.
One of many Global Citizenship projects has been led by the EduSpots team, who have spent the past four months working collaboratively on a series of fundraising activities. These have included planning, promoting and delivering a successful hot chocolate fundraising stand, alongside wider awareness-raising initiatives.
Preparations involved close coordination with the catering, events and finance departments to ensure that all logistical and operational aspects were in place.
To raise awareness within the school community, the team designed, printed and displayed posters across campus and shared information during a whole-school assembly. The most significant element of the awareness campaign, however, was a pledge to cycle alongside Emmanuel Adjei as part of his inspiring Bike 2 My Root journey. Over a collective 15 hours, the group cycled the equivalent distance of his Geneva-to-Montpellier leg.

The hot chocolate stand took place at the end of last term, where pupils served hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, alongside freshly baked brownies and cookies. The team were delighted to learn that the funds raised through this initiative were doubled through The Big Give scheme.
Well done to all pupils involved for their commitment, teamwork and dedication to making a positive global impact.
