Tennis is a major summer sports option at Wellington and is offered to both boys and girls in all years at the college. With magnificent indoor and outdoor tennis facilities we can field a large number of teams in the summer term for competitive fixtures against many other colleges to include the likes of Bradfield, Eton, Marlborough and Harrow and Radley and Sevenoaks. A typical Saturday could see us field up to 35 teams of VI across all year groups.
We are now proud to offer performance training sessions year-round for those pupils looking to take their tennis to the next level on our state-of-the-art indoor courts. This performance pathway group is restricted to pupils who have realistic ambitions of performance Tennis, post-school.
Year round, all pupils can sign up for 1-1 and small group lessons, to give them the opportunity to continue their individual skill development. However, there is an additional charge for these lessons. This high-quality coaching is provided with our team LTA qualified and accredited professionals, who have all played to a high standard themselves. The coaching team is led by Gary Drake, a former British singles and doubles champion and GB over 35’s international

The strength of the Tennis program has grown exponentially over recent years at Wellington. Whilst there are always over 200 pupils representing the college recreationally in the summer, there is now a small core group that train on our remarkable indoor courts, year round, with ambitions of the top UK & US universities. We are proud to link with the National Tennis Centre at Bisham Abbey to further help support these aspirational pupils.

The boys put in a fantastic performance last week against last year's national champions. It was a gritty performance in defence epitomised by the tackling of Wilbur (Pn) and Raffi (L). In attack the players produced tempo and fluidity that led to a Mofe (S) hattrick.

Well done to this week's Team of the week, the Girls U14C Hockey team, who had a sensational win after only one session of practice, but achieved a commanding 4-0 win! The girls came together with impeccable teamwork and with 12 players, most pushed through a whole game.
