The Turf was buzzing with excitement as Wellington College hosted its debut Prep School Football Tournament, welcoming teams from Moulsford, Wellesley Prep, Thomas’s Clapham, Wellington College Prep and Papplewick for an action-packed afternoon of football.

Adding to the atmosphere, Reading FC were on hand to help run the event and provided great entertainment — including a football speed cage that measured players’ shot speeds, which proved extremely popular throughout the day.

Oli Pritchard, Head of Football Development at Wellington College, reflected on the event’s success:

“It was a fantastic day of football with some real quality on display. It was great to see some really competitive games played in terrific spirit.”

As the first Prep School Football Festival to be held at Wellington, the event marks the start of a new sporting tradition. Following its success, the College now plans to make it a regular fixture in the sporting calendar, celebrating skill, teamwork, and a shared passion for the game.
