Wellington is delighted to be a finalist in two categories in the School House Awards 2025: ‘Social Mobility Champion’ and ‘Local Partnerships and Community Champion’
Our shortlisting for the Social Mobility Champion award recognises our work to improve access to life-changing education for young people who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. We achieve this through long-running scholarships, grants and state school partnerships including our Prince Albert Foundation (PAF) and The Wheeler Programme.
The Local Partnerships and Community Champion Award celebrates independent schools who rightly collaborate with local academies and state schools to share expertise, resources and best practice. Providing support to the community is baked into the fabric of Wellington College and today’s partnerships are the modern-day manifestations of our mission to be of service to others. Our partnerships range from a long-running collaboration with Carwarden House School and outdoor activity sessions at College for local primary school children, through to the Wellington College Learning Alliance which supports students and teachers outside College including our 26 local state school partners.
We also support and encourage pupils to initiate their own charitable endeavors with one particularly notable achievement being the establishment of The Cerebral Palsy Trust by pupil David Lofthouse and a close handful of his Wellington school friends. So far the trust has raised over £260,000, funding life-changing surgeries and collaborating with Great Ormond Street Hospital
Award winners will be announced in the ‘Scholarships, Bursaries & Champions’ issue of School House Magazine in October 2025.
