The dance scene at Wellington College has been nothing short of extraordinary this year, with the Dance Department captivating audiences with their remarkable performances. The Michaelmas Term’s production, Wonderland, stands out as one of the most awe-inspiring dance shows in recent memory. However, it’s not just the breath-taking productions that have made this year special; it’s the sheer enjoyment and participation of countless Wellington students. A prime example of this was the Street Crew Battle, where students showcased their talent and passion for dance. Moreover, dance has become a popular avenue for students to enhance their wellbeing, with many utilising the dance studios during their free time as a means to relax.

To commemorate the art of dance in a grand fashion, Wellington College had the privilege of hosting the 2nd annual Berkshire Independent Schools Dance Festival at the beginning of May. The festival featured stunning performances by students from Wellington College, Downe House, Reddam House and Bradfield College. It was an overwhelming success, with Wellington pupils triumphing in four categories, solidifying our reputation for delivering exceptional dance across various styles, both for juniors and seniors.

As we near the end of our dance events, there couldn’t be a more fitting finale than showcasing the future of Wellington College Dance. The Choreographic Challenge granted third form dancers their first opportunity to create their own choreographies. On the evening of May 10, we were treated to a delightful dance display, witnessing our up-and-coming dancers excel themselves with their stunningly beautiful and highly expressive performances. Congratulations to all those involved in this showcase.
