In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, Georgia T has clinched the prestigious Beryl Danby Cup, becoming the National U16 Girls Singles Rackets Champion. Georgia showcased exceptional prowess throughout the tournament, securing close victories in both the quarter-final and the semi-final.

Her remarkable steadiness on the court proved to be her greatest asset as she faced opponents from Cheltenham in the semi-final and final, both of whom were a year her senior. Despite the tough competition, Georgia remained resilient, ultimately emerging victorious and etching her name in the annals of rackets history.

While Georgia’s triumph rightfully takes centre stage, it’s important to acknowledge the stellar performances of her peers. Zaara N’s impressive journey to the semi-final, marked by a notable victory over a competitor from Marlborough, deserves commendation. The collective strength displayed by these young athletes, all in their 4th form, bodes well for the future of the sport.

Seb E and Baz M demonstrated their prowess in the 2nd pair competition, reaching the final in spectacular fashion. Despite facing formidable opponents, including the favourites Radley, the duo displayed remarkable resilience, staging a comeback from 0-2 down in the semi-final. Although they narrowly lost the final to Tonbridge after leading 2-0, their efforts were nothing short of commendable.

What makes these achievements even more impressive is the fact that all opponents faced by Georgia, Zaara, Seb, and Baz throughout Wednesday to Saturday were in the UVIth category, highlighting the calibre of competition they had to overcome as they are all LVIth!

Congratulations to you all!
