The Wellington College Wellbeing Festival, an eagerly awaited annual event, took place this year on 21 and 22 June. Once again, it proved to be a highlight of the school calendar, offering an extensive range of activities designed to promote both mental and physical wellbeing among students.

The festival kicked off on Friday with a lively Student BBQ, setting the tone for a weekend of fun and relaxation. Students were treated to an exciting performance by our talented student band, followed by a special appearance from Lewis Fuller, a performer from Britain’s Got Talent, whose engaging performance captivated the audience.

Saturday morning began with a leisurely late breakfast, allowing students a chance to sleep in and start the day at a relaxed pace. The rest of the day was packed with a diverse array of activities catering to all interests and promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing.

Creative and hands-on activities were a major highlight, including origami, model making and baking. These sessions provided a wonderful opportunity for students to express their creativity and to unwind. Those interested in sports had numerous options, such as girls’ football, walking basketball, mountain biking, pétanque, and even a HIIT workout session for a more intense physical challenge.

For those seeking relaxation and mindfulness, there were plenty of activities to choose from. Mindful colouring, deep breathing exercises and yoga sessions offered moments of tranquillity and introspection. The laughter workshop was a particular favourite, demonstrating the power of laughter in enhancing mood and reducing stress.

Other unique activities included working with a therapy dog, outdoor and lake swimming, and the engaging chronophoto challenge, which combined photography with a creative twist. Students also enjoyed more leisurely pursuits such as board games, garden games, golf, and arts and crafts with toddlers. The friendship bracelet-making session was a heartwarming activity that fostered connections and creativity.

A standout moment of the festival was the inspiring talk from Amy Williams, Olympic gold medal winner. Her motivational speech resonated with students, encouraging them to strive for excellence and embrace a positive mindset.

As we look back on this year’s Wellington College Wellbeing Festival, it is evident that it has once again succeeded in its mission to provide students with an enriching and enjoyable experience. The wide range of activities and the inclusive atmosphere ensured that there was something for everyone, making it an unmissable event. The memories made and the skills learned during these two days will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, encouraging students to continue prioritising their wellbeing throughout the year.
