Morgan Lake (OW 2015) and Sam Curran (U6 Bd) have received the fantastic news that both have been nominated for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year 2015.

For Morgan, who graduated from Wellington in the summer of 2015, this is the second time she has been nominated for the award. Morgan is the European and World Junior High Jump champion, as well as the World Junior Heptathlon champion. In August, she travelled with the full GB Athletics squad to compete in the Beijing World Championships.

Sam has enjoyed an unbelievable year of success on the cricket pitch, becoming the second youngest player to represent Surrey CCC at first-class level. Sam took 8 wickets on debut in the County Championship against Kent, picked up a man-of-the-match award in the Royal London one-day game against Worcestershire, and almost saw Surrey through to winning the competition with his innings in the final in Lords.

Julian Thomas, Master of Wellington, said, “This is wonderful news for both Morgan and Sam, and everyone at Wellington is hugely proud of their achievements. Both are, of course, hugely talented but this is also just reward for years of determination, dedication and sheer hard work. It is remarkable that one school has produced two candidates for this award in the same year and we wish them every success in the competition.”
