Two Wellington College pupils have been selected for the prestigious NextGen Team of the Season, recognising their outstanding performances and impact throughout an exceptional rugby campaign.

Elijah J (13-BN) and Rhuari H (13-E) have both been named in the Schools Team of the Year, recognition of an outstanding partnership this season, with Elijah selected as Outside Centre of the Season and Rhuari on the wing.

For Elijah, the highlight of the season.

“My standout moment from the season would have to be the interception against St Joseph’s College in the semi-final to give us the lead at the start of the game. I had to jump and reach for it and run it in from about 30 metres to score under the posts.”

For Rhuari, his highlight came on one of the most challenging stages in school rugby.

“Beating Harrow at their place was special on their home day. Scoring two tries was good on a personal note, but the team winning there when Wellington hasn’t for years was incredible.”

Their selections in the NextGen Team of the Season reflect not only individual brilliance but also the collective strength and growth of this year’s squad. Both players have consistently demonstrated skill, work ethic and leadership, contributing to a season filled with landmark moments.

Adding to an already celebratory week for Wellington rugby, OW Tyler Offiah has also been named in the England U20 squad set to face Scotland in the 2026 U20 Six Nations.

Everyone at Wellington College congratulates Jeyes, Rhuari and Tyler on their outstanding achievements.
