Wellington College is delighted to celebrate the success of student Emir, who has been named one of the winners of the prestigious Write on Art competition, organised by Art UK in partnership with the Paul Mellon Centre.

The national competition invites young people to respond creatively or critically to a work of art that inspires them. Emir’s winning essay explored Man Under a Pyramid (1996) by renowned German artist Anselm Kiefer, a powerful work that reflects themes of history, memory, and the human condition.

In his writing, Emir examined the striking symbolism of the pyramid and the vulnerability of the solitary figure beneath it, offering a thoughtful and deeply reflective interpretation of the artwork. His work stood out among entries from across the country for its originality, insight, and eloquent analysis.

As part of the award, Emir attended a creative writing workshop at the Royal College of Art, collaborated with fellow winners on a published zine, and received mentoring from leading professionals in the worlds of art and writing.

This outstanding achievement is a testament to Emir’s creativity, intellectual curiosity, and talent as a writer. Congratulations Emir.
