It may sound trite, but there truly is something for everyone at this remarkable institution.  On its 400-acre campus – which hosts an uplifting array of flora and fauna, as well as more than 1,300 pupils and staff – the children can make the most of a 950-seater theatre and every pitch, court and studio you could think of. (There’s even a climbing wall and a nine-hole golf course.) ‘If you have a talent, Wellington will provide a forum for you to shine,’ opines one parent.  ‘But the school is pupil-led and, while they are all strongly encouraged to take part, they get to decide what they want to engage in.’  That’s behind what one parent describes as the ‘effervescent spirit’ here, and makes it feel like a place to truly live as well as study.  Results remain strong; and providing a choice between A-levels and IB appears successful, with more than 30 per cent A* results in 2023.  Other notable academic successes included 12 offers from some of the most competitive college in North America, including Harvard and Stanford, as well as 22 from Oxbridge.  An in-depth curriculum review has led to an extra hour per week in the timetable for each academic subject and the launch of ‘Fragments’, a culturally focused extension course for the Fourth Form.  And under development is the Life Beyond Wellington careers programme that is hoped to be housed in a purpose-built hub, which will join the newly opened Sixth-form centre.
