The HM
Tanya joined Wellington College in September 2019 as Deputy HM of the Benson and, for a term, also served as Acting HM, which further strengthened her aspiration to become a Housemistress. She has also spent two years as Senior Deputy HM. Before coming to Wellington, Tanya was Head of German and Assistant HM of a day House at St John’s School, Leatherhead, where she also completed her PGCE. She read German and Italian at the University of Edinburgh and spent a year in Hong Kong teaching English after graduating. She enjoys running, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
The House
As Wellington College’s largest girls’ boarding house, the Apsley is a vibrant and inclusive community where girls from a wide range of backgrounds live, learn and grow together. Life in the Apsley offers opportunities for growth, from taking on leadership roles and contributing to House life, to learning how to navigate challenges and support those around them. All of this is underpinned by an environment rooted in academic rigour, complemented by a strong commitment to sport and outdoor pursuits, supporting both learning and wellbeing. Within this balance, girls should develop the clarity and confidence to take their next steps with purpose. Apsley aims to shape individuals who go on to make a meaningful contribution to the world, leading with integrity and a clear sense of purpose.
