The Dining Hall

The College Dining Hall was opened by King Edward VI in 1906. Located centrally in the delightfully Victorian Combermere Quad. The Dining Hall offers a cafeteria system for buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner (for just over 300 persons). It is a superb venue for wedding receptions and special occasions (for more information, please go to ‘Weddings and Special Occasions’). A bright interior with the College’s house banners displayed along the walls, and a beautifully painted vaulted ceiling and a grand balcony, your guests cannot fail to be impressed. Imparting a sense of the history in which the site is immersed, the oak panelled walls are adorned with portraits of the College’s former headmasters, and of English royalty who are linked to the College.

Note: The Dining Hall is accessible for wheelchairs via lift or ramp, and there are toilets nearby.

V&A Café

The V&A Café is Wellington’s very own coffee-shop, also at the centre of the campus, opposite to the Dining Hall. Skinny lattés to go or leisurely cappuccinos allow for a cosmopolitan and thoroughly modern experience for your guests, participants, and staff alike. A versatile space, seating over 120 persons, the café is also a popular go-to for hot dogs and ice creams for Summer residential groups, or as a convenient registration point, or

evening reception venue, for example. A natural venue for a relaxed hangout or for informal meetings, the V&A is always a popular haunt with our guests.

Note: Being on the ground floor, the café is easily accessible and there are toilets nearby.

Common Room Dining Room

The Common Room Dining Room is an elegant salon adjacent to the Dining Hall. It accommodates daily counter breakfast, lunch, and dinner for up to 75 persons, or equally it is a perfect venue for breakfast or lunch meetings. A self-contained meeting space for your guests, the Lounge Area presents an ideal registration or reception area, with access via stairs to toilets on the basement level.

Note: The Common Room Dining Room is accessible for wheelchairs via the Dining Hall lift.

Dining Hall Annex

The Dining Hall Annex (which, as the name suggests, is accessible via the Dining Hall) seats up to 70 persons for daily counter breakfast, lunch and dinner and/or offers smaller groups an option for an exclusive dining space.

Note: There is a disabled toilet beside the room entrance and other toilets nearby.
