We are proud to announce that Wellington College has been named Best of the Best Senior School for Preparation for Life in the Autumn/Winter 2025 edition of The Week Independent Schools Guide.
With a record number of entries this year, it is an honour to be ‘Best of the Best’ in a category that speaks so clearly to what a Wellington education is all about – preparing our pupils not just for exams, but for life beyond Wellington.
At Wellington, preparation for life means more than academic achievement. It is about equipping pupils to flourish in their careers, in their relationships, in service to others and in their overall wellbeing.
Our ‘Life Beyond Wellington’ programme, a fully integrated, world-ready pathway, runs from Third Form through to the Upper Sixth and beyond, supporting pupils up to the age of 26. It includes life skills workshops, in-person networking events and access to Wellington Connect Global. In 2024, we introduced the OW University Ambassador Scheme, pairing Sixth Formers with alumni currently studying at leading universities.
In 2024, we also launched Courses Within Courses, bespoke, month-long modules for Fourth and Fifth Formers that bridge the gap between GCSEs and Sixth Form study. Our Fragments course draws together seemingly unrelated disciplines to cultivate broad, connected thinking. From September 2025, students can now opt for two new practical alternatives to the EPQ: AI: Mindful Machines and Start Up!
Alongside curricular innovation, we have made significant investments in the student experience, including a new Sixth Form Centre and co-ed boarding house, both designed to support independence, leadership and preparation for life beyond College.
Wellbeing remains a core pillar of a Wellington education. Through our Wellbeing curriculum, student-led Mental Health ambassadors programme and the annual Wellbeing festival, pupils are encouraged to build lifelong habits of self-care, resilience and reflection.
Beyond the classroom, pupils have every opportunity to nurture their talents and passions whether through our world-class arts and sporting facilities or through our Global Citizenship programme, which empowers them to serve and help shape a better world.
We are grateful to The Week Independent Schools Guide for this recognition and extend thanks to the judges and all the schools who took part, in particular to Sophie Oakes of Oakes Education and Louise Hitchen of 134marketing for their expert insight.
