The Chapel – neo-Gothic in style but built in brick – provides an oasis of calm at the centre of Wellington, where all denominations are always welcome. The foundation stone was laid in 1861 by HRH the Prince Albert and the Chapel was built by 1863. The stained-glass windows commissioned in 1948 (following the devastation caused by a stray German bomb) provide a decorative record of the early history of Wellington. The Chapel seats up to 600 adults and is a magnificent venue for any musical event.
